Habitat for Humanity Indonesia Collaborated with Prudential for the Maju Prudential Village.
As a part of the humanitarian mission, Habitat Indonesia partnered with Prudential to make low-income families’ dreams come true by establishing a decent housing complex in Maju Prudential Village. Maju Prudential Village is a program that aims to develop, sanitize, and prosper the people of Tanjung Anom, Mauk Subdistrict, Tangerang. The various programs within the DMP (Desa (village) Maju Prudential) framework include building and renovating school buildings, providing clean water source facilities, and developing decent housing units for low-income families. The program is set to be a continual project that delivers an example of community empowerment for other villages.
Other than building construction such as houses, schools, and other public facilities, DMP’s Programs provide education and empowerment for the beneficiaries through financial literacy training for the women community in Mauk – Tangerang.
Ms. Evi’s Story
To most people, home is the most comfortable place for daily activities. However, many families still live in non-decent houses; houses that are far from safe, let alone comfortable—From fragile foundations to flooded floors when the rain comes.
Furthermore, wild animals such as snakes and reptiles often invaded Ms. Evi’s house. The 40 years old woman also shared her anxiety regarding the land where her house resided since it belonged to someone else. “Every day, we have to prepare. If we’re getting evicted, we would be ready then.” Said Ms. Evi.
Like a dream come true, Evi and her family can now enjoy a comfortable house equipped with a solid foundation. “Having a new house was like a dream, and I couldn’t believe it and cried. Now, I don’t have to be scared of being evicted because this house and the land beneath finally belong to me”.
Ms. Evi is one of the beneficiaries of the Maju Prudential Village Program in Tanjung Anom.
