GENDER OFFICER (Yogya)
A Gender Officer ensures that humanitarian programs are gender‑responsive, inclusive, safe, and aligned with international standards. The role exists to make sure that women, men, girls, boys, and gender-diverse individuals have equitable access to assistance, voice in decision-making, and protection from harm throughout the project cycle.
Job Responsibility:
- Facilitate the formation of inclusive local committees (construction and water), ensuring at least 30% representation of women, youth, older persons, community leaders, persons with disabilities, and their caregivers.
- Ensure that water committees (10–15 members) are led by women and function effectively.
- Design and conduct four training sessions for 15 women-led water committee members to enhance their skills in managing and operating the new water supply system.
- Develop and implement training programs to promote responsible water use, prevent excessive consumption, and ensure that women and girls—who typically manage household water—have reliable access to safe water without traveling long distances.
- Organize gender sensitization training for 100 participants, including community leaders, neighborhood officials, religious figures, male and youth representatives, local government representatives, and other stakeholders such as Posyandu (community-based health services) and PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment).
- Conduct hygiene training for 525 women as household representatives to improve hygienic practices at the family level.
- Facilitate training sessions (gender sensitization, hygiene, water management) and Manage training sessions for various groups (women, youth, community leaders).
- Design training modules (gender, WASH, hygiene).
- Planning, implementing, and monitoring gender-based activities. Analyze data to provide program recommendations.
- Preparing activity reports and documentation (training reports, attendance, photos).
- Collect gender and inclusion-related data for baseline, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Understand mechanisms for protection against gender-based violence.
- Implement safeguarding policies and complaint mechanisms.
Job Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development, gender, or related field.
- 2–3 years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming, protection, women’s empowerment, GBV risk mitigation, or community development in humanitarian or development settings.
- In-depth understanding of gender equality, social inclusion, and protection of vulnerable groups.
- Familiarity with national/international gender policies and rights-based approaches.
- Familiarity with reporting and digital communication platforms.
- Ability to establish and manage inclusive local committees.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders (government, NGOs, community).
- Negotiation and advocacy skills for gender issues.
- Domicile in Yogyakarta, Gunung Kidul.
