Jakarta, 13—14 February, 2009: Today, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia celebrates the success of its post-disaster rebuilding projects in Aceh and Nias after the 2004 tsunami, together with 40 other NGOs who contribute also in Aceh and Nias. The “Celebration of Humanity” exhibition was held at Plenary Hall of Jakarta Convention Center.
This achievement for HFHI and its partners has its foundation in a framework of Community-Based Disaster Response and it fully involves communities in the housing reconstruction process. The community-based succeed in reaching out more than 5,000 families with almost 5,000 houses construction. “By working with families directly affected by the disaster, leaders in the community, partner organizations, and volunteers in a community-based response approach, we are rebuilding communities and providing opportunities for children and families to thrive long into the future.” said Tri Budiardjo, National Director HFHI.
