503 Families in Aceh Jaya District Move to Their “New Homes”

Sayeung, 4 April 2007: 503 Houses were dedicated by HFH Indonesia and their partners to Tsunami-victim home partners all over Aceh Jaya District. The Dedication of houses was held in Sayeung Village and attended by Vice Chairman of Aceh Jaya District, Zamzami A Rani. HFH Indonesia donor partner representatives such as Christian Aid, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) and Obor Berkat Indonesia (OBI) were also presented in this occasion. In his speech, Mr. Zamzami appreciated Habitat’s commitment in rebuilding the houses for Tsunami victims in Aceh Jaya despite challenges, difficulties on remote areas. On behalf of Aceh Jaya community, Mr. Syahputra from Blang Monlung village also expressed his appreciation to Habitat’s commitment, and sharing his personal view, “In my village, all houses built by Habitat were satisfactory. If problems occurred in reconstruction stage, it didn’t come from Habitat, but from our own community.” After dedication of houses, the event was continued by traditional games organized by HFH Indonesia and was fully participated by the community.

 

Among four centers in HFH Indonesia Aceh Disaster Response project, more than 3800 houses were completed. Eight villages all over Aceh Jaya District such as Jabi, Riga, Sayeung, Blang Dalam, Blang Monlung, Meunasah Kulam, Alue Gro and Crak Mong were under responsibility of HFH Indonesia West Coast Centre.
